1. Increased Energy- My energy level is usually pretty steady on a less strict paleo plan. Not many highs or lows. Yet, on Whole 30, I have noticed that my general energy level is up for most of the day. I feel better and am able get more done.
2. Decreased Cravings- This is no joke. If there is one thing that I have struggled with for my entire life, it has probably been unhealthy food cravings and a total lack of willpower. Can you relate? On this plan, I've noticed that somewhere around week two, it just gets easier. Not that I don't want some of these foods, but that I don't crave them. If you've never experienced this type of victory over cravings, it really is an empowering experience.
3. Decreased Appetite- Not only am I having less cravings, but I have noticed that my general appetite has decreased. I know these two are closely related, but it is worth saying that I am eating less and I feel ok with that.
4. Increased Mental Clarity- This final benefit, though hard to explain, is the most intriguing to me. I have found in my paleo experience that I am able to think clearly and focus much better. On my current Whole 30 plan, this effect is magnified.
It is amazing to me how our diet can affect so much more than just weight loss or body fat %. Have you experienced a difference in any of these areas as a result of your eating habits? Leave a comment below.
