As someone who has struggled with my weight, you can pretty much guess that a vast majority of these resolutions were centered around losing weight and getting in shape. Unfortunately, pretty much none of these actually worked. In fact, the one time I did start an eating plan and stuck to it, I started in August.
Even so, I think that anytime someone decides to make a change, there is always a chance that they will succeed. (You have a 100% chance of failure if you don't start)
You may not be a fan of New Years resolutions. And I'm not really interested in talking today about whether resolutions are good or bad, but I do have an interesting thought for you. If you are planning on making a New Years resolution....
Why Not Start Today?
Do you really need to wait until January 1st? Just start right now. Get a head start on your resolution so that by the time everyone else is suffering on January 2, you will be well into your resolution and over the initial discomfort and withdrawal. You will be feeling good about yourself while others around you are flagging.
At the very least, you could start making small changes to lead up to your January resolution. Just start something positive today. And also do this:
Commit NOT to Binge in Anticipation of a New Years Resolution.
One awful thing about resolutions is the awful choices people make in the week(s) before they plan on making the change. Please, do not go crazy this week in anticipation of making a good choice later. Oftentimes, this actually sets you up for failure on your resolution. (See my previous article on this here: 3 REASONS TO AVOID A "LAST MEAL" BEFORE YOUR DIET)
So, what are you waiting on? Make your plan and start today.
